@Greythundercloudys can I suggest you edit your OP. I’m sure your neighbour doesn’t really source any antibiotics that may be ‘hard to get’, from Ireland. That would most likely be illegal, and not something that he would want posted on a public forum!

He was just joking about it I expect.

As to treating the ewe, if you don’t know what you are treating, or what you should be treating it with, I would suggest you consult your vet. Or at the very least, give us a decent description to work from!

Can you still get that?
I was under the impression it was no longer available but I might have got the wrong end of the stick as there seem to be supply issues with a lot of drugs over recent months, indeed , alamycin la as mentioned in the start of this thread had been unavailable at our vets until recently
It's a while since I bought some so you could be right. Always found it to be a very useful drug to have in the locked medicine cupboard.

If it's already dead no point in trying anything else! Sorry couldn't resist, but would think vet, if called out, would use Micotil (maybe your neighbour is an Irish vet) but generally when sheep are that far gone they just die anyway.

No bother getting it here, had 4 bottles from the vets today but drugs in general are in tight supply, they had no betamox or alamycin LA

It wasn't that far gone, but jag made no difference, defo pneumonia,, alamycin saves very few.

If it's pneumonia then I use Tylan or Draxxin (as close as we can get to Micotil these days), along with a shot of Metacam. The anti-inflammatory is important imo, alongside the antibiotic, as it reduces inflammation and allows the ai to actually get to the infection.

Nuflor, and I think Hexasol (?), contain an anti-inflammatory already, for that very reason.

Think it’s resflor not nuflor that has an anti inflammatory

Hexasol is basically alamycin with an anti-inflammatory as far as I know.
