Have gopollen calves and there temprament for everyone is unreal quite seems there is huge variation in the breed for all traits probably because its not a pure breed but a mix if red breeds

Our pure danish we’re evil at calving for the first couple of years. This will be our first year with any red heifers calving in but so far they’re cheekier than a fleckvieh but hands down jerseys win the award for being the cheekiest.

Just dosen't look right !

Must be disappointing when that happens.

I was over the moon last year when I had a random red pop out of a hfr.
Genetically she is towards the bottom end of this year's bullers, so guess she will disappoint when she calves.

@Headless chicken cows out still? Milk up down? Bacto up down?

Had a bit of a farm walk, to summarise;
Anywhere that went into the winter with a cover >1850 has grown well, anywhere with a cover <1850 has sat wet and not got going yet. Have a few paddocks that would graze but cant see the need to get the quad serviced for a good 14 days.

cows still out and enjoying. Will be upping their hours at grass as of tomorrow. Milk staying probably equal. Wagon on stop so back to blocks has dropped us 300l so far so all things equal I’m assuming it’s staying equal. Bacto went up to 250 and back to 90. Tomorrow will be the price time to tell. Hoping to get some plating done Monday but agreed regarding covers. Silage ground is flying on though at a hell of a lick.

Over 50 we’re into penalties but over 100 your getting fudgeed and it was frankly demoralising to the extent that I really dreaded waking up every morning. We tried literally everything. Pulled the parlour to bits swabbed it constantly, no prep, full prep, cluster flush off, cluster flush on, different Chems the list goes on not one thing touched it. It’s still too high yes but atleast I almost feel it’s within reach. If we could settle it at 60 I’d be content enough considering we’re overstocked and have no roof on half of the cubicles.
I take it you have already been un the bulk tank. This is where we always find our problems. Also milk cooling to slow will not help. We were over 500 the other month. Found the back wall of the tank not cleaning. Under 20 again now.

Do you get penalised for being around 70? We get penalised for over 30 and are fighting through the winter to keep it below, we aren’t doing any teat prep though so may have to give in and put an extra man in the parlour
Tell your man putting on to man up and pre wipe as well. We have a pre sprayer and wipe before putting on.

we have but a trip inside again might well be due. Tomorrow will be the deciding factor. Cows are spotless coming off the grass now.
