Can i have confirmation of how long fresh calved cow's colostrum should be kept out of the tank. If they have only had orbeseal treatment only.
4 days Isn’t it?Can i have confirmation of how long fresh calved cow's colostrum should be kept out of the tank. If they have only had orbeseal treatment only.
contracts usually say, specifically, no milk for 4 days post calving. What you actually do, may be different, as we acidify, and store colostrum, to feed calves, we keep to 4 days ish.Can i have confirmation of how long fresh calved cow's colostrum should be kept out of the tank. Need plenty for calves here at the moment so no rush to get them back in just as I get round CMTing themAnd you question why you lost your contract. No "ish" here, 4.5 days minimum. Over half would be 5.5 days.
Could you run the high yeilders through the parlour for a third time? Not milking them just feeding them extra cake, would mean a lot of extra work and you would need a separate group but you could see if it's worth feeding the extra cake or not before investing capital on something that you arent sure is worth it?a question, we have amassed an autumn calving block, 60'ish, bought a load of xbreds of a farm, 7,000 l average, good fats etc, bit of a shock, when nmr recording sheets came back, some 9/10,000 litre cows ! Any one got views on oop feeders, and is it worth doing, instead of feeding a good tmr, to the whole group ? Just exploring a few random thoughts. Ought to say, about 1/2 would be higher yielders, rather than the lot.

I just been working through the fresh calvers once they get over 5 days calved. If they pass they go in the tank. I hope they’re happy, haven’t missed a top band in 7 years! (Touching wood)Cmt every other day, the afternoon after we get the nml txt.

One farm does,nt and he wonders why cell counts are high.He is the type that you can,t question him about it because he knows all the answers....
Sometimes i wonder why i bother........

I just wanted confimation regarding the colostrum by what the milk buyers say on thir contract. The confusion might be because orbeseal has nil milk withdrawal on the datasheet.
All the ones I've seen say 4 days MINIMUM which I assume means you're meant to check that their milk is ok before it enters the tank as some may take longerI just wanted confimation regarding the colostrum by what the milk buyers say on thir contract.

I just supply labour there.I can see on the computer in the farm office where the milk is going.Yes the others are correct, it's processor, assurance and legally mandatory.
It's also a minimum.
Out of curiosity, how would it work with your s/e insurance should an issue arise?
