Not yet 😔 bulling again today, had the vet check her and all normal so given her a holding injection, I'll serve her tonight and then inject her again in 11 days time and crossing fingers and toes🤞🤞🤞

dont take this the wrong way but from the picture you posted before( could just show her bigger than she is) trying to get her in calf is just immoral and IMO the vets are abusing their duty of care to encourage you to continue in offering fertility treatment. She will soon be dry so your looking at attempting to manage her weight for Atleast 9 months. You’ve got a small number of cattle so limited grouping so she’ll end up with something getting more than she should thus getting fatter if she does then calve down you’ve almost definitely got a cow with ketosis, likely milk fever then probably a DA if your lucky. Chuck in a c section a dead cow and a dead calf if your not.

if you want to keep her as a pet then do so but don’t try and get her back incalf for her sake and yours.

as above though maybe she’s not as big as the picture is suggesting.

She wants shutting in a box with nowt but a smidge of straw if you actually want to get weight off it take you few months mind then feed it get it in calf then back to the box for 9 months on straw lot of work but if she’s really you baby crack on otherwise I’d totally agree with headless your asking for a disaster can just have a pet cow let yer mooch about with the milkers or the calves to teach them some manners

I love this cow, she literally is my baby, right now theres absolutely no way I would part with her, I could do with some good news occasionally and finding out shes in-calf would make my year without a doubt.

When I lost my last holstein from dads herd I was beyond distraught, I hope your daughter is ok
She's a lot better now thanks but still has her moments. She was having quite a hard time being bullied in school and the show success they had really boosted her confidence. The cow had been ill for quite a while and luckily we were able to get her through to calving and she left a beautiful heifer calf. So, yeah, I get it. Some animals just get to you.

Well it’s better for her if he wants to keep it that much to be either handled properly slimmed down hard or left alone to be a pet ones not going to break the bank but if it was mine she be up the ramp and gone this is the problem with supposed high grade cows they keep the sh!t in my view a I company’s should be looking at cows that excell in a normal commercial farm with a hard culling policy I’ve a cross bred Holstein Friesian cow here gone 11 lactions from all year round calving to spring to autumn 3 system changes never missed a beat never had a problem fires out 1200 litre above herd average but as she’s hardly pretty wouldn’t get a look in

Quite right I’ve got some of his breeding coming up to calving now and there the best looking nice natured heifers I think I’ve produced obviously proofs in the pudding but they just look the sort to just get on and go

No point going over old ground we all think your bonkers. The last throw of the dice for this cow would be to implant a cheap embryo. I've never done it but I believe it's saved a few difficult breeders before.

Previous owner wouldn’t have sold the very best but the breeding will still be there in the ones that were sold
Maybe not the very very very best but having worked for the previous owner for the past 2 years I like to think I've got one or two that I atleast would consider the best

Financially you're all right in that I should sell her but as pointed out by me and others it's one cow not a herd of them if I cant afford to haveone cow to make me smile when I'm having a sh!t day I should give up now

I get that most of you are financially driven and every penny has to be counted and costed
I'm cow driven, every cow has to be treated and looked after like a princess, I expect nothing but the best for them from anyone who works with them.

No exactly we've had this discussion on here before, I'm aware that I'm an idiot for wanting to keep her, but unfortunately that's not a good enough reason for me to get rid of her

My plan is to hopefully get her in-calf and then house her and monitor her intakes so she cant put any extra weight on, if she doesn't get in-calf she will be housed, made to lose weight and the ai'd next spring when shes in the correct condition if she doesn't hold then I'll give up and she can be my garden ornament (she doesn't move much anyway)
