saw some xbred calves out today, with a proper creep feeder, long established grazing herd.

sale today, the hols looked cheaper than the xbred, different economics, some of those jx, were close to 60ppl, pre seasonality, haven't been in the 60p bracket before. But only bought 1, and son didn't wait for the jerseys. Lot of 3/4 or light cows in the sale. But plenty more sales on the horizon.

I agree, might of been marteye camera but didn't think the Holsteins looked big solid types that have a decent cull value?

that's the problem of marteye.
son said they were fair cows, and trade showed that, wished he'd bought some of them, but liked the yields on the xbreds, and only bought 1.
I bought 3 xbreds but had to pay for them. The Holsteins were a bit plain and one hell of a lot of 3 titters in there. I think the best were left at home. Auctioneer thought they were a good trade for what they were.
