Thankfully Iv persuaded the misses to leave the horse at the in laws farm, to much hassle I said, he's an old boy you would want to upset his routine now, best leave him where he is. Hopefully @Splitpin kids will take him on ;)(y)
Ha, i think they know what my opinion on that one would be. Anyway I heard the horse was going out with you and another one was turning up for yourself

This is why I've bought fleckviehs. I'm hopefully to have one trained before mine comes of age. I just can't decide if it would then live with the cows or live in the garden of a stable in order to go and fetch the others.

In a perfect situation I would get a saddle on the bulls so they work over the winter and then fetch cows over the summer.

I love fleckviehs, beautiful creatures they are. There is also another breed of cow which is from a similar region, produces A2 milk and can produce milk on poor quality forage and still give a decent amount. Sadly they're now only in the hills of, either Sweden or Switzerland, not sure tbh. I'll find a link for you sometime...

My wife wanted a dog. For me I hate dogs being near dairy cows. Plus our house is near the calf paddocks. I don't need a dog sneaking over there at night and chasing them.

Neighbors dog was sneaking over and chasing the pre fresh cows around at midnight and causing further problems to the cows. It's life was a millimeter from ending.

I think I have convinced her to take up shooting instead. Haha.

Well I will say this... You could buy a Welsh sheepdog, I have 2 and one of them is an excellent cattle herder, if you like I have some contacts which could tell you so as well. Also we keep ours in, or chained up, of a night so nothing is allowed to roam free unless under supervision. Yes a collie would be a good bet, fantastic help with the cows, plus good company on top of that, and they live for 14-15 years :)
