Does anyone else here grow lucerne? I put some in last spring and I don't know what its supposed to look like at the moment but it's looking properly poo to me - I'm hoping its a winter dormancy thing, but I'm struggling to find anything...(n)

We got a field of it,yeah looks terrible this time of year just wait for the temp to increase and it’ll take off.get some potash on it (y)

We have a few part timers so it's a bit hard to say but nearly 5 full time equivalents including me and the plan is to milk 550 this year.

Being multi sited is ridiculously inefficient, I'll clock up 2-300 miles a week in my car this time of year driving between the different sites.

All quit tonight

Glad to hear that, was almost wondering about ploughing it up today!

Have some sandy muck to be spread as soon as it dries up, hopefully keep the PH up.

Great feed and the cows go mad for it, so I hope we can get it to work here

I put this on another thread but I thought it would be interesting to see what the general view would be regarding this flooring idea? With straw the price it is today and for us it would free up a store area, save 30 minutes every day and save the cost of a straw chopper if we could use it for our calving shed which then doubles up as a post weaning calf rearing area.

It appears to be some sort of matting that allows the urine to pass through leaving a more solid muck that can be collected by the robot. The video seems to be showing heifers but they are trialing it out with cows at the Dairy Campus in Holland. In this situation it is being targeted as a welfare flooring with the added benefit of lower ammonia loss as urine collected separately. They claim lower cost I guess through no cubicles and it can be added to a flat concrete floor.
Where does the urine go though?
