Just saw this and thought it might be helpful for anyone looking for a replacement for the old 135 and yard scraper.
Compared to slats/slurry channels spread over a huge area that some large dairies are I imagine the cost would be easily justifiable!Just saw this and thought it might be helpful for anyone looking for a replacement for the old 135 and yard scraper.
Yes not a silly idea really, I hate slats and under shed tanks.Compared to slats/slurry channels spread over a huge area that some large dairies are I imagine the cost would be easily justifiable!
We’ve got something similar…just a LOT smaller & its not as comfy to sit on. Don’t have to worry about crashing if I’ve got a hangover eitherJust saw this and thought it might be helpful for anyone looking for a replacement for the old 135 and yard scraper.

I remember Dad buying a cow at the mart with a bag like that, me and mum played merry hell with him for buying such an animal.View attachment 1129576
Lovely udder on this fresh 4th calver monty X, really I glad I kept her…..
Not only me that's done the two clusters trick in the pastI remember Dad buying a cow at the mart with a bag like that, me and mum played merry hell with him for buying such an animal.
But to be fair to him he only paid somewhere around the £350 mark for her as a 2nd calver when others were £1200+, he bought her just to fill the tank.
Every time she calved she needed 2 clusters to milk her for the first two weeks, as the milk tubes weren't long enough to reach the teats.
She did last 7 years, did get 6 beef calves out of her, and made £950 when she went as a cull. Probably the most profitable cow that's been here.
Not very handy in a robot! To be fair with a bit of finger chasing it’s attaching to her ok.Not only me that's done the two clusters trick in the past

FreezerIt’s about all she is worth at pickstocks because she has a Swedish eartag and they knock loads off that’s if you can even get them booked in!
I was thinking about your fertility problems... I know you had suggested various nutritional issues - but have you tested for fluke?Did a count up over lunch, for the first time in a bloody long time over half the cows on my farm are in-calf which feels bloody brilliant
Last fertility visit, conception rate was up to 40% which whilst I'm aware is still below where lots on here and even where I would like to be, it's a big improvement, been steadily climbing for the couple of months now
Give me another couple of months and I reckon it could all be back on track
Getting on well with the RMS bedding, in what I presume is a wet area?An excellent visit yesterday. Tough area to dairy but what a good unit. Also full credit to RABDF for organising and orchestrating such an interesting day.View attachment 1129732View attachment 1129733View attachment 1129734View attachment 1129735View attachment 1129736View attachment 1129737
