You will be finished before mine! Yours weren't supposed to start until yesterday! Staff!
We have been using sexed semen for years so mainly get Heifer twins (had 1 set of triplets which are all milking as well), but we have had 5 sets of freemartins over the years and 3 of the 5 heifer calves have bred. I do wonder if crossbreds are more likely to breed. What do most people do with fremartins, usually I’ve always put them into our beef group, we have had 6 sets now in the last few days, I’m sure I read about a member saying most are actually fertile?
Vet told us once that a cow might be carrying twins, slip the bull calf, have a live heifer and that could be a freemartin.Sell them. Calving the way we do we are not always aware of what is a twin so some inevitably get reared. Maybe some breed, we always find a couple at breeding it seems though.
Yeah been told the same. We just use them for freezer beefVet told us once that a cow might be carrying twins, slip the bull calf, have a live heifer and that could be a freemartin.
I’ve got some pretty good looking spring calves. They don’t look that good thoughView attachment 1134563
Nice evening for checking the spring born calves
Reckon they built it to be impossible to measure on an EA inspectionView attachment 1134751Popped up due to looking for staff. The importance of that existing lane is without words
Calves drinking all the milk I guessIce- cream attraction Cream o' Galloway set to close down
The operators of the Cream o' Galloway site say they are "very sad" to shut the visitor centre.www.bbc.co.uk
Thought they might have crowd funded to keep a loss making enterprise going.
What's the issue?View attachment 1134751Popped up due to looking for staff. The importance of that existing lane is without words
Top half of the picture is really right looking. What's the issue?
the importance of a proper transition diet.“High K silage or grass can be very unpalatable and downright dangerous for both milk fevers/ retained cleansing and staggers”
Just got to be careful with management of grazing
difficult to say twin, or not, or which belongs to who, when you have a lot of cows calving at the same time.Vet told us once that a cow might be carrying twins, slip the bull calf, have a live heifer and that could be a freemartin.
Look closely and you will see it is the power lines dictating the shape of the lagoon.Top half of the picture is really right looking.
