All things Dairy

On the other hand you don’t need tracks, fences, water troughs everywhere & associated pipework. Different strokes for different folks etc.
One of my vets called in the other day, out of curiosity he asked how much a year my rotary costs me 8-10k, he’s got a similar farm who’s GEA rotary is costing them 9k a month. He commented we had learnt a lot from the indoor herds about creating a good environment for our cows in the winter. Perhaps the indoor men could learn a thing or two about cost control from he grazing guys.

thats the problem though isnt it, everything we buy has a maintenace cost. More cost added to the business. We have been removing things that have these constant maintenance costs. All we are doing is giving our hard earned money away to these people
but its what the guv want, highly technical efficiency

just a pity it costs so much

but its a hell of a sub, to the tech industry, grant aided, they give us 40%, we add 60%, and spend it all, into a small developing industry.

win win for the guv, cheaper food, money into tech development. Nothing wrong with simplifying systems.

What on earth could be going wrong that needs over 100k a year spent on it?!

That’s exactly the reason I’ve been able to pay for that out of cashflow without borrowing any money. This job isn’t hard we make it harder for ourselves. I’m just as guilty as other at being sucked into gimmicks over the years
For your business to be in that position someone’s borrowed money to get it there tho, still bloody impressive
