Alternative to simba 23C disc Harrow for heavy land.

So, as the title says really, we currently run a set of 5.5m ish.... 23c discs and a single dd ring press for the first pass on heavy land, but were looking for a more of refined tool to the same job, for all its ability to penetrate the ground its finish isn’t very level, it’s also not quickest of tools to pack up and move field to field, and being 5m ish with the front cut hard open it’s not the most efficient tool. Corners are a faff to try and disc out too. We are currently looking at vaderstad carrier 925 xl with big 610mm discs, as a quicker neater alternative. But would be interested in anyone’s thoughts or experiences on moving away from the trusty old orange stuff to something newer. Tia

Have you got tines on the press that makes a big difference.

Yes got the tines, I do think a double dd press would be far better than the single dd at the moment. But would really like to up the output and have the width to turn round and do a block of land twice fairly quickly..

What every you buy I would think you want a machine that each wind can pivot in the middle to allow It to follow the contours of the land. Have a word with Chris at Terra tech, will build you what you want. He was in the designe team at sumo.

We run 2b with a twin cast ring press with tines the press makes a big difference. Our discs have the bolt down wings wich is a pain.would love some newer ones with hydraulic pins

As said above talk to Chris at terra tech can make what you want but I’m biased the red one in the photo is mine. But a very sound calm knowledgeable chap.

A Simba Xpress would be a similar tool and there are a few about second hand or as other people have said call Chris. You will need to leave him a voicemail as he spends his days welding. He will make you fully bespoke kit that is cheaper but better made and finished than the big brands.
