Amino Acids and Methionine

Anyone supplementing cows with extra methionine? or does a well balanced diet contain all they need?

We had our discussion group meeting by Zoom yesterday. One of the members was extolling the benefit of balancing the amino acids. Must be something in it as his herd of was averaging 40l !

My mate has an average of that, probably 43 at the minute and uses nothing like that.

Probably, chap in my group does it on 2x milking through his rotary, which I think is not too shabby!

My chap goes on about Aa balance et al. from time to time. I just glaze over tbh, it's his job

It's a few years ago now but we tried methionine for a while in a controlled way. Milk didn't budge one iota. Don't want to rubbish it but didn't work for us in any way. It obv wasn't limiting for us.

More to do with balancing lysine and methionine ratios. Worked for me, milk increased a little but the real improvement an instantaneous lift in CR.

check your lysine : methionine ratio in your feed software or with a TMR sample
