Interesting the source of funding. They've bought Mornacott nr South Molton, and several places up and down the land. Very glossy. The consequences of offsetting for those who won't decarbonise their lifestyles or businesses directly 🙄
Has Mornacott been sold again recently then?
My Uncle used to farm a lot of that. Grew up making hay, shearing and dipping sheep over there.

No more sinful than large arable farms and estates putting virtually whole farms into SFI nonsense. There is a lot of the Pot calling the Kettle black at the moment on several threads .If it was bought fair and square it is up to the new owners what they do with it whether we like it or not.
Maybe so but once trees go in they ain’t coming out….least with SFI it can be ploughed out anytime

Say a bit more please?
Who are those who won't decarbonise?
It's not the farmers. They're aren't being ousted. The market determines sales. Farmers are already carbon free.

I'm not sure when it was sold, sorry, but it is included in the new owners of Siblyback's website. The photos of it are splendid.

It will be airlines, high energy usage companies, and individuals who will retain a high carbon footprint who'll be buying indulgences. I didn't say farming would be ousted, but it's overlaying a highly corporate system with a glossy exterior.

Looks like the same people I knew to be there. Not that I actually knew them.
Uncle did. There was another lot there between them and when Uncle farmed some of it.
Beautiful barns even before they were converted. Worked in them as a youth, but always marvelled at them then thinking would love to have seen them working in their heyday.
Would have been a fair set up in its day.

It looks like the establishment, including NFU, are planning to do away with UK ag altogether, import commodities to turn into UPFs and rewild .
As Harold Macmillan said "events dear boy events", all the ideas of our ruling classes, will become as dust in light of events. Maybe we will end up with another War Ag trying to get us to become more productive. On another thread Russia just taking over 650 000 acres run by a Dutch firm, and maybe they will eventually anexe Ukraine, so I am guessing food security will move up the political agenda.

It’s a cold farm, which conifer tree will just about grow on. To be honest it probably won’t many produce tonnes of beef or lamb, most of the animals there would be fed grub brought in from miles around. probably best to revert back to trees.
Better under sitka then, as far as production is concerned.
But blurb says rewildy type trees.
It’s not being rewilded. Lots of rumours flying about, and very few of those spreading them will have actually spoken to the new owners.

It won’t look like it does now, lots will change and this will no doubt provoke many angry letters to the Western Morning News but, it will still produce beef and, I believe, lamb.

And if it doesn’t, so what. Market share will
be a tiny bit bigger for everyone else so, let’s all just chill and see what happens.
I've had some contact with owners, but know nought of em.
In this instance, I'm only going off what FWs are reporting.

I no longer care about the greenwashing carbon nonsense- if that's their thing.
Oil will still be burnt just the same, temps will continue to rise, the poo will still hit the fan.
I am happy enough...my feelings about humanity being as they are.
