The sarcasm because people don't calculate all the running around and wasted time into their handling charge because the men are salariedstill dont get it.

Who does grain buyer work for?IMO this is a sensitive subject not for rumour creation in an internet forum, whatever his field of expertise...
Don't doubt that but there sounds to be whispers in the trade which may be equally as damaging.IMO this is a sensitive subject not for rumour creation in an internet forum, whatever his field of expertise...

Loose lips sink ships,etc..
But if anyone has facts they ought to sh!t or get off the pot, because rumours and insinuations can become a self fulfilling prophecy.
Some of us will have grain committed to pools or sold to "co-ops" and such destablising talk, without facts to form a judgement, is unhelpful at best.
Not taking offence at all, but I do not think leaving a fart in the lift and then departing is helpful either.
They were appropriate at the time.obviously the bulk shed was not built high enough. Lack of foresight= bad investment= depreciation.
What are the costs? Turnover ain’t margin but I doubt annual costs + depreciation is £250k
a coop acts as agent for the members grain and does not handle the grain in principle can be 2 farmers upto to thousands of one end user goes bust the loss is shared
a merchant buys the grain off the farmer then resells it to the enduser if the merchant goes bust the individual farmers without grain and money lose out
farmers can spread their risk by being in a coop
or selling to a number of merchants not having all their grain off farm with no money but that makes it hard to move large amounts in a particular week to reduce running about
I bet 95% of sheds put up 30 years ago aren't suitable today unless you are still running the same machinery. They were appropriate at the time.
Which ones? Most coops tend to trade more than the merchants.......they don't just market their committed tonnage, they buy and sell just like other merchants.
Which ones?
Fengrain do definitelyThere can't be many left! Wessex Grain did 3rd party trading before Cefetra bought them out. Centaur didn't but Grainfarmers did, so Openfield still does it. Fengrain?
