The Animal Liberation Front wants to put game farms out of businessBEN RADFORD/GETTY IMAGES
Animal rights activists freed 9,000 pheasants during a raid on a Suffolk game farm as part of a campaign to “dismantle the shooting industry farm by farm, shoot by shoot”.

Members of the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) who attacked Heath Hatcheries in Mildenhall said that their aim was to put shoots out of business.

The Times revealed on Saturday how millions of day-old game bird chicks were being sent from French battery farms on Eurotunnel trains to bolster British shooting estates after ferry companies refused to

Laying birds they are releasing not chicks, shoddy journalism....also trying to get ban on importation of French eggs and day olds!!could have consider able implications for other livestock if it were to occur.
These people are animal rights criminals, vandalising and stealing...for a month or two gamebirds then chicken or pigs or lambs or calves. Where is the farmers voice? Where is the Police investigation and crown prosecution system?

If someone shot an animal out of season I bet the police RSPCA RSPB and every other do gooder would soon be there. Any other criminal would be dealt with yet these people not only ruin the game industry but livelihoods aswell makes people uneasy when strangers are around. Where is the real justice system when you need it

Are you condoning breaking the law.

I'll come and let your cows out. They'll only get shot anyway. Or shall I just come and shoot them on site.

I wouldn't do either. But it's the same argument. It's your livelihood as much as it is the game farmer.

There's lots of things many people don't agree with, but they don't go around breaking the law to show their displeasure.

Why is it similar to foxhunting? One is a pest the other free range poultry.

When a fox is killing rabbits & rats he is a good mate. Totally understand free range poultry farmers & outdoor lambers hating them though.

Game birds are vermin, damaging crops & spreading disease.

I don't condone theft or vandalism though. Should fight with advertising, political pressure, courts etc.

I dont condone the release of the birds illegally. You can see why they are doing it, it's a sport for the rich, and hard to justify.
Let my cows out, they are out already, and yes they do get shot in the end. They lead a long and care free life while helping to feed the world. Use the carcasses of the birds and you'll gain a lot off support, too many are dumped tho.

I'm a shooter and agree that shooting and dumping hundreds of birds for sport is wrong thousands starve in this day and age this could all be used in the long run. Shooting is a very lucrative business for the rich poorer folk like myself shoot and enjoy not only the shooting but eating aswell. But if I participate in any illegal activity I could lose my license some people need to get a life and campaign and do something to more meaningful and less petty. If a farmer went to there homes and let an animal out or 1 of there children they would soon complain and kick off.
