They must have known about their tax liabillities some time ago, so what have they done with the money? Boils my pee that hmrc negotiate with corperations, they don't negotiate much with the rest of us.

I think they've already paid 500million or so.

I think the owners have form.

Nice timing I'd say.

Johnson seems to have gone from heralding Global Britain prospering mightily on the sunlit uplands following the titanic success of Brexit to giving assurances that you should be able to eat this winter although he didn’t say if you would be able to heat your homes as well.

When asked the prime minister expressed his deep concern for the rapidly deteriorating economic situation

Media is controlled by the government. That became blatantly obvious during covid.

They maybe plan to wind up everyone who will listen about fuel shortages. Then step in and fix it and try to come out looking like heroes.

Ordered 5k litres red Thursday, delivered next day.

GB news makes for interesting viewing, not on the same bandwagon as BBC etc

Funny that the fuel Companies knew there would be minor shortages (about a dozen filling stations running out) in the middle of the week and are now blaming motorists for panic buying.

Why didn't they restrict sales as soon as they foresaw the problem? Or did they want to create the present "crisis"?

Media saying tonight that 90% of petrol stations now have no fuel.

The gov are saying there is no problem and we are not going to do anything.....

What a mess!

Around here only the motorway stations and the odd garage here and there have fuel, most stations are now shut as they are not getting the delivery's due and empty!

What happens next week when all the lorry's that buy fuel at the petrol station have to park up?

What should happen is that fuel sales of sub 15L into cars during these panics be charged at £5/L, maybe discourage all the Karens sending hubby down to top up.

same with bogroll, first multipack normal price, filled the trolley? Each subsequent 24 pack is £40 each.

I haven’t thought this all the way through as I think the excess paid should go somewhere worthwhile, not to retail or government….. or rpsb……er…….RNLI!

Thats that sorted, ratchet up the cost of panic buying to discourage it, and send any proceeds to the RNLI. 👍
