Anyone using Micro Boluses for lambs ?

As above, I am interested in giving these a try. They seem to roughly deliver the same amount of trace element as a shot of liquid drench for a similar price, but probably there’s a better chance of the TE still being available in x amount of weeks time ?
Mayo do the Cobalt 12 high Guard, I didn’t know if there where any other versions from other companies ? and would be interested in other peoples thoughts and experiences.
TIA

Yes, I use the Mayo lamb boluses plus copper. They work reasonably well, I would say, and have to last better than a drench. Having said that, last year the lambs appeared so short of cobalt that I drenched them as well. But I heard a lot of people complaining that last year was bad for cobalt. I started using them after forage samples and bloods came back very clearly that we had an issue with deficiency (cobalt and copper particularly).

I've used them this year for the 1st time. Previously used mayo 6 month boluses. I did it at 1st nemo drench. Great for ease of application and price.

I noticed more scabby ears than I normally do with my normal bolus. I also don't think the lamb crop this year haven't thrived as much as previous years, but that could be down to other factors.

Gave them my normal bolus just over a week ago, and imo they are already looking a lot better for it.

Probably won't do it again next year.

A few other people I know used them for the 1st time last year and like them a lot.

Used the mayo micro boluses this year for the first time at marking 4/6 weeks ago. Once I got into the swing of them I found them pretty straightforward to administer. I’m pleased with the lambs atm. Also used the 5 in 1 ewe boluses for past 5/6 years, lacking in iodine here, got bloods done again this year and levels in ewes were normal so boluses definitely doing the job.

Naive question - got the Mayo 4 in 1 to do the ewes and the Mayo gun. How far down the gun nozzle does the bolus need to be pushed? Right down to the end or just far enough to catch.
So long as it stays where you put it until you squeeze the trigger. I just put it so end of bolus is flush with opening on nozzle.
