Anyone want an infiltration test?

Yes, but I'm a long way away from you and am in year 3 of strip tillage, not no till.

@holwellcourtfarm - have you seen this?
Thanks @Brisel

I could offer some long term grazing that's just started out in Holistic Management, some long term hay crop (resown by DD) an, possibly, some set stocked PP at Dad's that has been uncultivated for at least 70 years. Any use?

We're over on the essex / london border and would be very interested. We have a lot of permanent pasture and will be moving into rotational systems next year from set stocked on some of the land.

We also have ancient wood pasture that we graze with open glades and pollards that are hundreds of years old.

I’m genuinely interested to know what tech they plan to use to do the measurements? An Enviroscan type soil moisture probe or something else?
Not sure, but will let you know when it's up and running.

As Sill says above, it's very easy to knock a pipe in the ground and pour water into it and time how long it takes the water to soak in. The team from KCL have designed their own web-connected instruments which will feed hourly info back to HQ with hydrological data and weather/ atmospheric pressure etc. They are interested, inter alia, in finding out how useful it would be to have land farmed by CA techniques, when it comes to holding up water in flood conditions and thus possibly prevent flood damage downstream.

I can provide a field of first wheat in the second year no-till, a field of first wheat no-tilled after two years grass, a field of second wheat non inversion tillage and a field of second wheat drilled after ploughing all pretty much flat and all adjacent to one another if that is of any use.
Hi, we are studying the hydrological benefits of Conservation Agriculture for Natural Flood Management and we have designed a series of web-connected instruments that can measure elements of hydrology and report it to a website that you will be able to access. We are looking for paired sites on similar soils and crops and close to each other, of arable under CA vs non CA, and pasture under CA and non-CA. Thanks

I've got 2 fields might be of interest.
One has beans DD straight into turf.
One is beans DD into spring wheat stubble.
And over the road my neighbour (who would probably be amenable ) has a field he's just taken on, it has had cultivation on and off, this year he's shallow cultivated it several times to level it up.

Would they be interested in permanent pasture Vs cultivated arable?

I have a couple of fields that might be suitable. They are part of a natural flood management project and a no till trial with the EA and Thames Water. West Oxon so just about SE.

@Inky - That's not so far from us. We are looking for paired sites on similar soils and crops and close to each other, of arable under Conservation Ag (CA) vs non CA, and pasture under CA and non-CA. Thanks

Long enough to show a difference from no-till :)
That is not too far away
From one of "the boffins"
Well our longest field in no-till was last cultivated in 2014 not sure if that's long enough. Some that's been no-till one or 2 years and plenty of land that's had heavy non inversion tillage and permanent grassland that's not been moved in modern times. Feel free to pm me if you want me to give you my contact details

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
