APHA Late night messages

Hello all,

We are poultry and sheep farmers and are registered for APHA SMS update messages.

These have been regarding Avian Influenza and now Bluetongue.

We have noted that they often arrive in the evening, sometimes late.

I am concerned that the timings of these could be unescessarily stressful for those in the areas local to the outbreaks and was hoping to ask APHA to consider delaying sending these, after a certain time say 7 or 8 pm. Until the following morning. So as not to disturb people before they go to bed with issues they are unlikely to be able to act on that evening.

But my question is, is it just me who is concerned? And no one else is bothered? Before I attempt to take it further APHA

Thanks for your views in advance.

My phone is at my bedside in case of urgent calls from family. So I cannot really switch it off or mute it. I value the work that APHA are doing but you’d think they could somehow limit these texts to business hours. I also had a text close to midnight that woke me from northern Powergrid to tell me it’s windy and the power lines might go down. A new and not particularly welcome development but I suppose they are trying. They just need to refine it a bit.👍

It's not just you, please do tell them it is out of order. Text came last night, have just checked the time 21.42 we are in the bluetongue area so feel obliged to read them all, like you say there is sod all you can do about anything that time of night other than worry.
