Anyone else seeing this sort of build up.
Almost every head, in a 100m run on a 24m headland.

Cant see any ladybirds out there either?

Yes seeing a few about when out walking with the agronomist yday. No difference between headland and middle of fields. Didnt reach the rough threshold of 50% of ears infested but keeping an eye on them. The warm weather next week probably wont help!

Ours has been like that on one headland for about 10 days. Ladybirds not doing much. Haven't sprayed as advised against it

There are a few, maybe 1 per 1000 heads, as an aside I saw a dead thistle in the linseed which had at least 50 ladybirds on it,
go figure

Supposedly a ladybird can eat about 50 aphids per day-to clear that infestation in a few days(which is what it wants not to have an effect I would imagine) you would need about 1 per 10 heads?

I know Birdseye are really struggling north of the Humber with aphids in peas, not as bad south of the river. Wetter last week??

I have seen a few heads, with a few aphids here thus far.

Rain forecast for Monday/Tuesday might knock them back...

Bit more rain would be nice, though a torrential thunderstorm perhaps not ideal i'm not a fan of flat barley!
