But don't we just love backing ourselves into these sorts of corners. We fall for it every time. Big shiny kit with all the bells and whistles, then it turns round and bites us when we ourselves have lost all control over its maintenance and repair and even its operation.
 
So all tractors are leased then? ....... Mess up millions of farmers year end accounting process!

There's no such thing as a capital addition then so the annual investment allowance has never been used!

From Tuesday it was apparently legal in the states to fix or hack your own tractor or combine again!

extract from Digital Millennium Copyright Act exemption, November 2015 (comes into force 1 year later):

Allow circumvention of TPMs [technological protection measures] protecting computer programs that control the functioning of a motorized land vehicle, including personal automobiles, commercial motor vehicles, and agricultural machinery, for purposes of lawful diagnosis and repair, or aftermarket personalization, modification, or other improvement. Under the exemption as proposed, circumvention would be allowed when undertaken by...the lawful owner of the vehicle.

Just for the next 2 years though, because JD might get too upset otherwise :LOL:....
