Are bumble bees thriving now?

I'm not an expert, but I would have put them in the hay barn underneath some loose hay & left that area undistured until early
Now that neo nics are banned, conditions should be ideal & populations boom.

Apparantly not the case. Global warming & modern farming are now reducing the wild bee population.

Please discuss.

Bumblebees Conservation Trust supports bee science & monitor bee populations 2019 report, available from their website, was mixed, some species doing better, some worse. They have this to say on badger s etc.

Bumblebees have many predators, some of which are mammals and birds. These predators have co-existed with bumblebees for thousands of years and are not a cause for conservation concern – it is the human caused problems like habitat loss, pesticide exposure and climate change which make natural predation more of an issue for bumblebee populations

The problem could be that the winter is too warm and they break hibernation and are active and using food reserves they cannot replenish
yesterday saw a large bumble bee flying in the open
the bumble bees because of their size can operate at lower temperatures than smaller Inspects gives them n advantage ( early bird gets the worm )

Same issue I assume with Red Admiral butterflies. In our house have found maybe 10 or more Red Admirals on the move in past few weeks. Have let outside if on the wing, or if rested with wings folded relocated to outhouses in the garden.

I saw, back in the summer, where Badgers had destroyed 2 wild Bee nests.Thats a lot of Bees but, imo,the bee numbers have been increasing in recent years.Nothing to do with neonics as in our area they were increasing pre ban.

A few years ago my Land Rover broke down and the only way to get to town to get spares was to hitch hike. Standing at the roadside I noticed lots of dead bumble bees at the edge of the tarmac. Would they have been foraging the white clover flowers on the verges and become road casualties? Not the big bees but the smaller light brown ones.
