Saw this and thought I would put It to a poll. Some maybe at net zero already so they should answer “yes” in the spirit of the poll.

Can those that are selling carbon credits claim they are ?
If your on max till you won't be able to claim many credits, the more regenerative you are the more you can get allocated for you as I see it.
I imagine fuel use is our biggest emissions problem and I am actively trying to reduce it.

Direct drilling crops, doing more square bales as against rounds for quicker baling, carting and chopping in the winter. I'm sure I've used less fuel by having a bigger combine than I need this year also.

Better use of fym, more red clover leys to reduce fertiliser use and lower stocking on permanent pasture.

Every little helps!

I’m seeing more and more other sectors who interact with us expecting improvements.

It’s not that easy for us, battery tractors aren’t around (arable) and not sure how the livestock boys can improve hugely.

Ignoring tractor fuel we focused on heating and electric use. Installed biomass and PV and metered everything.

On paper it can look remarkably professional what a difference it’s made

Until the rest of the world wake up what we do in the U.K. is totally insignificant. With food security now a real thing then this country should take a step back and secure food supplies to make us as self sufficient as possible. Then once we’ve done that and if other countries start making progress we should then look at it again.
And I’m not giving our Carbon away. It’s going to cost any interested parties an awful lot of money per credit.

Tesco's freezers burn more electricity each year than does all of UK ag. Get rid of all the cows and UK GHG emissions go up.

Anyone who even puts their hand in the air saying they are thinking about playing this net zero game needs to give their head a wobble. It has one objective and one objective only; to get you to hand your carbon over to the cartel as a compulsory part of taking your produce, so that they can then put a green sticker on the produce they have hauled half way round the world, whilst simultaneously screwing you on price by making you compete with that product that has been hauled halfway round the world.

my plan is the no plan, plan.
I sit back and wait for the following.

first, we get a renewable electric grid in the Uk. I buy carbon neutral electric.
Then someone starts to make green nitrogen made from renewable energy, and I buy it.
Finally, someone comes up with a way to power tractors that doesn't involve fossil fuels, and again I buy one.

anything else is just playing with meaningless carbon cycles. reducing my consumption of carbon is the only way towards carbon neutral.
I can play with direct drilling etc but its meaningless, until we cut our consumption.

even if I go neutral, or negative I still only offset a tiny fraction of humanises production selling credits has no value to the goal, it actually only allows someone else to avoid making the transition away from consumption and towards renewable ideals.
they should spend the money on transitioning towards being and usings renewable methods, not carbon credits.
