We have an open fronted shed which is going to be used for lambing sheep. We have decided to put some space boarding across the front of the shed. The shed was on farm before we came it has quite narrow steel beams. What would be the best way to attach the wooden purlins to the steel beams before adding the boards? I think you would need some sort of bracket, can you buy such a thing or would it need to be custom made?

Weld or bolt on some angle to bolt the timber purlins to

just a bit of 3x3 angle iron bolted to RSJ then sit/bolt the cross timbers to that
