Australlian drought/heatwave

Its Australia, for those thinking that its the west coast of scotland every year time to realise the nature of the beast.

I have donated $$ to drought relief so i dont need an empathy speech talk either.

Climate changes, Africa and sth America were joined once, only no we have the technology to track and communicate world wide we thinl this is some phenomenon thats just started occuring.

If you think the area you farm should have reliable rainfall year in year out, give me the last 1000 years of data and we can probalbly predict where its headed.

Assumption is the mother of all f*ck ups.

I can only imagine the damage it can do to our tourist and investment trade, having videos of Australia becoming so hot?? And then having people thinking the place will be unliveable in future.

Does canada get the same reasoning and videos with the snow coming in early destroying harvest? Or they good leftys so cant happen there?

I’ve seen stuff about the drought on friends Facebook pages and it seems to be getting tragic.also noticed that rivers and water are not going to farmers for irrigation for what reasons I don’t know.also seen on outback truckers tv show about 300 trucks carting hay and feed to farmers who have nothing.very sad situation.being this side of the world we don’t get to hear much about it

Its as tragic as it gets, its extremely frustrating the dis information that is reported. Its click bait, the drought is the biggest weve had since records were kept, 100 years, we are a very young nation. Hot days are nothing new here.

For the region affected by drought we dont know really if its the longest and driest because of lack of records.

We should all expect climate to change because it always has...

The % man owns is the question but its not 100%, history and science show us this.

Climate change is being sold as 100% man made, thw bulk of populations now live in cities, so easy to dupe.

has anyone the link to the video of the place where they save water and only crop when they have adequate supplies .I believe its quite controversial

There was a 1200 year mini ice age in nth america 12,000 years ago i think, they now believe was caused by global warming.

Lucky youtube and leftys werent around then....would of blew there minds!!

Can this happen again, id say very possible...it happened in the past. They certainly dont list a condition that couldnt occur again.

I believe there are areas on planet Earth that may become basically uninhabitable due to climate change in time, lack of potable water and not enough rain to grow anything with reliability or keep animals. Has happened before and I have seen land with my own eyes that was borderline already.

Saying the entirety of Australia is gonna be a goner mind is a bit much: it is a huge place.

Very fair comment.

I'd no intention of offending Australlian's & suprised at the reaction. Just drawing attention to how bad it has been..

Similar problems in the middle East & Northern China. I presume in less reported areas too.

Do u have any data to suggest they havent died from high temps in the past?

Ant...

Well of course they have, like some of our wildlife died of frost last spring & thirst in the summer.

It is just the numbers. If you are happy in Australlia, I'm pleased for you. I did not realise it was all just pure hype.

Sorry again if you are offended. I'm English we talk about weather all of the time. The other matter is the very high levels of snowfall in Central Europe

Just a little anecdote from this current warm spell...It couldn't be any drier or hotter where I farm. But summer is always hot and dry......(here anyway). But this year despite it being certainly the hottest spell in the 45 years we have been here, our dairy cows are surprisingly feeling it less than the last 5 summer's......why? I don't know. Perhaps the fact we have had no cold weather between bouts of 40+ temps.....who knows?? But I'm struggling to see 1 panting cow, even when it was over 46°c.

if you believe that video you will believe anything. Odd spots over Australia get hot every year, has done since i was a kid, 35 at night happens all the time where i work in the mine. 47 happens once a year or more someplace...42 is another day in the kitchen.

Its been terrible for years? As ignorant as they come.

Australia has been hot for millions of years, we only have 100 years if data and fair chance the first 60 wasnt that accurate, the country has been in its current format for close on 40 million years since it was separated from indonesia. The aborginies became there own race.

I haven't had a 40 degree day in 2 years, always get 1 a year?

I am amazed at the comments, like seeing what school children would say.

You cant seriously be an adult in 2018 and say you wonder if it will become uncivilized, if your are an adult you are as dumb as a day old badger.

40 million years since Aboriginals became their own race?
Damn, those pesky anthropologists got that wrong then...i thought it was 50,000 years or so -who is confounding enough

Yes u correct, i meant 40,000. I built a minesite in WA where we protected the oldest known aboriginal drawings that were 38,000 years old. At hope downs minesite
