Ok I have been told there is a farm going to hit the market near us and its a fairly good farm.. with the view of buying it lot stock as its ring fenced and a good unit. I would like to know how much could be generated from bed and breakfast pigs it has at least 40,000 square foot of clear span sheeds on it. I would historicly filled it with bulls and dairy youngstock but there is no chance I am investing more in to dairying at the moment.
Many thanks in advance.

Your not limited to 2000 pigs but if you go over 30kg you need a IPPC permit which is abit of a hassel to get but not impossible.
That requires you to do some extra paperwork. Which for a straw based piggery is fairly minimal.
It's normally bolted onto the Freedom Food assessment with us

Daniel is fairly correct. If you would like a second option you could contact me and chat it thro 07802 596702
Also the Suffolk serf is correct about location
We norm stock 10ft sq per pig for conventional systems. That is utilising one third dunging area two thirds laying

That's fairly good money. Say 1000 hours with hander @ £10 how much labour how many hours a day. . Appox. How many ttonnes of straw would that many Pigs use. I know the muck will be worth more per tonne but I dont really need the muck but it never does harm..

Yes, just had a measure with a laser and Our 800 place shed came out at 8300 sq ft so much closer to Piggy Jags numbers.

Which gives you 4000 pigs and the pro rata extra income.

We use a telehandler shared with the rest of the farm and it costs far more than £10/hr to run, nearer £20, pig muck corrodes and ages it prematurely with a resultant poor trade in value. With that many places a dedicated scraper tractor or something would probably be more economic?

So 20 grand to 25 of straw 10k for handler and 1full time man 65 k profit we run a 3 tonne tele on a very hire hour operating lease and it costs 6.34 pound an hour including tyres servicing and all spanner work to be honest fuel hard to judge as some days it just shunts around at tick over other days it works a high reves but I dont think 8 litres an hour will be far away for 130 hp???

2500 a year for three years will pm you w who.. I can not get any other dearler any were near tthat. As for quota of if that went up I would not need pigs on to pay a mortgage. Pigs will help pay and the house and cottage rent will help. I would maybe make more out of home Farm of filed up with pigs as have a hell of alot more shed space at home but been advised to keep hold of cows till eu decide what they are doing

I wouldn't think you would get much of a man for £15k/yr, certainly not one you could leave in charge of the pigs.
I know that good pigmen earn just short of double that, though they put the hours and weekends in. All the way through the year. Outdoor breeding can be even higher on some sites in East Anglian if you want to maintain a stable team of men.

Just to elaborate on my rather short earlier reply. The right location is vitally important as plenty of North of Scotland contract finishers will testify as despite being near breeding farms, the cost of transport of feed into the area and finished pigs out made the job uneconomic for the owners of the pigs.
They now move smaller pigs into an area nearer to arable production and abattoir.
If you are in the right area, with breeding herds, feed production, and abattoirs within an hour or two you will have plenty of demand for finishing space.
