Some interest on the milk price tracker thread. Maybe we ought to have a B litre tracker as well??

Month. Standard pice. B price
June 18. 26.35 23.71
July. 27.66. 26.96
August. 28.19. 28.13
Sept. 28.99. 29.43
Oct. 29.2. 28.1
Nov. 29.2. 26.3
Dec. 28.23. 23.91
Jan 19. 27.17. 23.92
Feb. 27.17. 24.13
March. 26.76. 20.52
April. 26.46. 14.53
May. 26.46. 12.68
June. 26.46. 22.49

July/August/Sept are with the farm secretary at the moment, but from memory the B price in July was just slightly lower than the standard price. August/Sept we didn’t have any B litres so don’t know the price. Will be back into B litres in Oct

Then your milk buyer is making plenty of money out of you

Quite possibly, but when questioned on it all we get told is ‘that is what the market is returning at the moment’. Unless we share information then how are they supposed to be challenged on their poor prices. Spot price info available from milkprices.com but then we get told those aren’t always relevant, or you have deduct 2-3 ppl for transport.

With B litres the processor doesn’t care what price they achieve for that milk, the price goes straight back to the farmer. Then don’t need to worry about planning, forward contracts, etc etc

Unfortunately no idea for November, don’t find out until we get the milk statement. Will be 30-50% of production for Nov/Dec

30.88 B litre price for October, just a pity we didn't have any! 28.94 for Sept milk, when we did. We get seasonality and various other tweaks to our A litre price but the only thing that comes off B litres would be SCC or bacto penalties and the levy.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
