@GTB i only wear mine when it's a social event. Seen to many pictures of people ripping all the skin off the finger because of their ring. Ive had a few close calls where my fingers were locked in something and wouldn't have got out with a ring on, doing starter motors, engines that sort of thing..

Poor you @Henarar ours hasn't been that bad yet. Triplet ewe today that has been fed 1.5lb/day for 56 days lambed this morning, 2 good sized but dead lambs that the ravens and great black backs were fighting over and then a much smaller lamb that was running behind her :mad::mad:

Do you want to share your pain? (sheep not finger)

Stubborn sheep. Frustrating dog (who ate my egg custard once I put her in truck). Make shift race collapsing & sheep escaping. Trapping finger in hurdles. Plastic nozzle snapping off mole wormer (the really thin one that no other cap fits).

f**king budda.

Our Texel ewes were part way through lambing at the weekend, I got talked into going out to a charity dinner on Saturday night. Left my man in charge, stayed away for the night as our kids were staying at grandads so we stayed too, I looked on the camera at 7am Sunday morning (man had been in at 5am and all was fine) no ewes in the pen! I panned the camera to other end of shed where ewes were having a party on the pile of bruised barley! Called my man but by time he got them in they had obviously had a scoff.

By Sunday night there was 2 dead. By Monday night another 2 dead, plenty really sick, a couple prolapsed, a couple have gone off milk, the tup who I stuck back in with the ewes so he wouldn't be on his own outside was dead yesterday along with another ewe. 2 ewes dropped dead lambs. One sick ewe has laid on her cracking single tup lamb and smothered it. Had to section one of the prolapsed ewes as when trying to put the prolapse back in she tore and then prolapsed her intestines too. The Mrs (vet) spent ages getting it right and stitching it all up again but was a waste of time as she died too.

pee'd off doesn't cover it from me. I know anything can and does go wrong during lambing but our small flock has been decimated by this.

We have insurance to cover this happening, but I have no proof if the gate was left open or if the ewes pulled the string then somehow pushed the gate open.

Has anyone claimed for this before? How do they value the stock, do they need evidence of how it happened, post mortems? The first couple ewes are away and the rest will need to go tomorrow. Will call Nfu tomorrow to see what they say.
