Bailey TB

Looking at a couple of used TB trailers. 1 is a 18 and the other a 20. Anything to look out for please when I go and see them on Monday? In particular a complaint I’ve heard before is they aren’t easy to start to tip but are fine once you get going? I know we hired one a few years ago and it had this issue. Apparently it’s to do with the design and where the rams try to push a full load from. I was wondering if a Beetheaper might be better as they seem shorter and higher?

Landlord had a Bailey Beetheaper ,,the body is higher to clear the big floatation tyres ,,he only used it for one season ,it rolled about and nearly fell over a few times,,ok on the flat but it was a bit scary coming out of gateways .

Beetheaper is heavier build with more bracing bars in the floor as far as I could tell. Used a 16t behind a jD 6410 when hauling from the harvester. Seemed a good trailer so a few years later I bought a pair of new 15t baileys for grain. No issues tipping 17t wheat.

Did you buy the beetheaper model or the TB?

TB15 model as it has the bigger brake size and 445/65/22.5 tyres to keep the width narrower for local roads, but better on the fields than 385 tyres. Flotations would have been ideal but would not suit my situation. It is the same size trailer as the tb14 but with 3" higher sides and uprated brakes. For a grain only trailer it suits me and i can allow the next generation to help haul knowing that the brakes are good, provided they use a bit of common sense. I use a tb11 to move 1000+ tons of muck each year and that has had plenty of use without issues. The tailgates on both are still oilseed rape proof after 8 years of service. Hope this helps:)
