What did you use?

Tiger x is prob most common one used here....seems ok on clover..

Will u get crop tested?

Ant...
Is only a small bit so may used a mix that was left over, triad and spruce (can't remember the actives). Yes hope to bale and test it unless weather is poor then it will get thrown in the pit.

I put 0.5kg/ac of balansa clover in with a normal PRG/White Clover ley and the balansa looked promising once it got going. A carpet of red dead nettles (ex arable field) mean that I had to spray with Spruce & Triad, and it has about cleared the balansa here too. White clover looks fine, but little of the original balansa left, although a few newer plants look OK.

How does the yield look compared to your ProtoPlus ley?

The bit I didn't spray has a good yield, comparable with proto i think but it's such a small bit that's not sprayed I'm not going to make too many bold statements! I will try it again next year possibly as part of a proto plus + balansa mix.

I put 0.5kg/ac of balansa in with the 'ProtoPlus copy' I drilled a couple of weeks ago. I don't if it will stand the early competition while it gets established though......

The few balansa plants are romping away on a bit of drainage work I drilled. Smaller clover plants in the picture are White Clover drilled at the same time. Oh, and a buttercup that I planted to add a bit of colour.....

Is that spot a bit dryer and sheltered where it is doing well?

How is everyone's balansa crop going now? Is it liking some wet?
I sent Charlie out to find some amongst the grass

wee bit still there, but I obviously should have let it seed instead of baling it. :inpain:Definitely learnt a lesson .
Joys of not knowing that's what was in the mix or how to manage it
20170825_102101.jpg
as it was listed as 'annual clover' not balansa clover.

Looks good Pete, this is the drama we have here is grass swapping it...must be a coastal thing.....i have to renovate 75 acres next year so will try sow grass a bit deeper and broadcast clover on top...if grass goes nuts then need to see if i can graze or even top to get some light into clover....ive got some good clover coming through this year which hopefully drops some seed....and fires early...this block will, also need some slug baiting unfortunately....then i willstart to play with radish or turnips and see if it helps reduce slugs etc...

Rustler and dual gold...with pironex....theres some dramas with rustler and pironex....dual gold at 250ml too high as well...

Id avoid pre em all together next time...siw early get clover going...spray tiger x to clean broad leafs....when balansa is firing weeds cant compete..

Heck, that is some mixture!

Tiger X is cheaper, surely? But the MCPA in it will make the clover look sick for a while. Best not to look at it for a bit after application. (y)

Better to stunt older clover than poison dirt, have no clover and thriving slugs...killing beneficials has taught me a harsh lesson but one worth learning...

Next year will move to earlier sowing, natural baiting product, night time harrowing before sowing...no pre em....i will have dairy steers for grazing at certain times...they will also help slug control by standing on them etc...
