I have a lely welger 235 profi, great baler however the tines are very weak in my opinion. I am looking to upgrade the tines to better or stronger ones. is there any tine out there thats stronger however that i wont need to change the tine holder as well.

I am also going to change all bolts for the bands etc to stainless steel bolts as my current bolts are rusting and seizing up.

Screenshot_20180809-120045.png would the 5.5mm thickness hd ones be stronger than your originals? And how many would you need?

have been thinking about these HD tines. I am going to do the reel up oover winter and was going to change all tines. I have my reel set up right and i put in 4 new tines on even and the were broke the next day. i was thinking it may be part of the fact of extremely hard ground the year in rough fields. I previously had a john deere 575 and i think i put in either 1 or 2 tines in her inside a few years so im thinking of possibly fitting john deere tines either. plus i already have some here.

yeah, i heard people say mchale tine is much better, however some people tell me you have to change the tine holders some say you dont. I read up on a previous forum that mchale tines will fit straight on and mchale cam tracks will also fit a welger

the cam type tine from welger are very weak. i use to replace a full set at the start of the year and you would normally get the year out without much hassle. i tried the HD tine but it was harder on the cams and cam arm. The camless is streets ahead imo

Why do welger fit cheap tines that don't last? Speak about penny pinching.

The tips of tines on my McHale are like needles where they've worn. Never happened on welger they just broke.

McHale were meant to have copied welger but they improved all the crap bits on welger.

The HD tines will last much longer, but will move your problem to the cam bearings and tine bars.I did this on our 235,all fine for the first season, second season broke 2 tine bars which are difficult to replace and the cam bearings weren't lasting a season.Pick up reel is the worst part of that baler, camless one from 2015 onwards is the dogs doo dahs.

But the welgers dont break tine bars!! I'd rather change tines than a tine bar...

Camless pickup still did tines as well they were just as bad for bendtand getting across into the wrong band the whole camless thing was one reason I'm not running welger now

the tines on my john deere was like needles for if there was ever a jam and you had to get out you would cut the arms of you on them however different story on the lely as they break before the ywear away at all

Get the newer tines from the 245 lely balers. They are a lot stronger than the older type found on the 235. Compare the thickness and spring width on the 2. The lely 245's grass intake won't be beaten imo
