Look for a Stenner 36. A superb re-saw with power feed. C£4k. Good resale value so you’ll never lose money.
It will require a 3’ deep pit and a call to Stenner for a plan is easy and IMO fairly painless.

There’s a Robinson re-saw of similar style to a Stenner on ebay for £2.5k. These are just as good. They even have a little brass button in the table so you can set your blade correctly to it

It's actually at North Berwick , it's an SIP 12 inch . I have one the same but still have a use for it, they are ok for the money.

On 8 inch beams, should be ok

8” tall is quite an ask for a hobby saw. 4” is ok. Old timber, dirty too. IMO.
GOOD quality blades will help.

Setting up your newly acquired tool is paramount. Ensure that it has both top and bottom guide blocks present and the top one is still adjustable as this should be no more than 10mm from the piece being run through.
Blade tension.
Dust extraction
Speed through the blade.
Fence for accuracy.
Rollers before and after the table preferably with an assistant on the opposite end to support but NOT pull ok. Thats where power feed is good although said assistant also stacks
Dust extraction is important so I’ve said it again!

Think OP has to clarify if its steel or wood he is cutting as some are suggesting wood saws and some metal saws.
