barley hay

Where I worked in Australia fed a lot of barley hay. Think it was cut with a swather at the milky stage, wilted in the swath and then baled.
Cows went mad for it, not sure how it analysed but it was fed at grass. So presumably was included for the fibre mainly.

I bought some the other year. I just assumed it was a poor crop with weed in it that wasn't worth leaving and combining. I just fed it to the cows, they ate it up OK. I was lucky I didn't seem to get rats through it.
