I have got 1500 acres of barley and wheat straw to be sold off the field in Quadrants at £50-£60/t.
£50/t to the person that is happy with the load, pays me within 30 days, doesn't mess me about wanting to spend an hour squeezing an extra bale on the wagon.
£60/t to the person that is happy with the load, pays me within 30 days, doesn't mess me about wanting to spend an hour squeezing an extra bale on the wagon, to then 30 days later says they were a bit wet
£70 and above to all others.........
PS be nice if you brought a bottle of 'Proper Job' or some Gower potatoes for the loader.

Well a lot of spring barley crops will be lucky to do a ton an acre plus baling and loading cost in at £30 pounds a ton recon some might find it has cost them getting on for £130 a ton if they are paying £100 an acre.
Heard this last year after harvest but only Pub gossip mind-
Barley @£130/tonne
Straw @£130/tonne
Farmer says
Why did we bother with all that hassle combining, hauling, drying, storing, loading etc. Just swath, bale and load in the field.

The way things are shaping up we all may have to think again!

£100/t delivered in and you want it for £60/t off the field  you’re talking your usual straw bo****ks

If the delivered in price is £100 then £60/70t ex field from places like Wiltshire and delivered to Devon would be about right.

Last summer you could get straw off the field ( bales ) from these areas for £40/45 ton.

Of course if your selling straw baled ex field from say Cornwall then it will be nearer £80t if the delivered in price is £100.

You need to look at the bigger picture......

I both enjoy and appreciate art. I am fortunate to have some big pictures and have the rooms to show them off. However, I will take your advice and pay a visit to the National Gallery so that I may see a bigger picture
