In the recent weeks many farmers will have started to receive funds through the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS), the European Union’s main rural payments scheme.
Unfortunately fraudsters are aware of this, and nationally there have been reports of criminals specifically targeting the agricultural sector in order to commit high value fraud.
The Metropolitan Police have issued advice on how to avoid being the victim of this type of scam.
