BASIS has appointed Greg Hopkinson to the post of technical manager to support the team and its members.
In his new role, Hopkinson will act as the technical interface across the organisation, from CPD training to new course development.
Hopkinson previously spent five years as a Hutchinsons’ agronomist.
Through his work, he has also achieved the BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection, FACTS, BASIS Certificate in Conservation Management and the Soil and Water Management Certificate.
“This is an exciting time for BASIS, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team,” said Hopkinson.
“We’ve all had to rapidly adapt to the Covid-19 situation to ensure members receive quality training to continue to carry out their essential roles to the best standards.
“I’ll be working collaboratively with wider committees to create new courses, syllabuses and review exam papers – I’m looking forward to working on this side of the examination process.
My biggest project has been working to create a new learning platform, BASIS Classroom. We hope this will benefit members to continue in advancing their professional development from home, particularly during the current Covid-19 era.
“I’ve also supported on the first episode of the new BASIS podcast, which will share updates and insight from across the industry,” he adds.
“Both offerings will reward members with CPD points, which should help fill the gap of cancelled trade shows and events.”
Commenting on the appointment, BASIS chief executive, Stephen Jacob said: “Greg is already bringing his excellent agronomic understanding to the BASIS team, and we’re thrilled to be able to utilise this practical knowledge to benefit our members.”
