Off topic but is simple to change the fuel a mobile drier uses? Ie from gas to kero? Can you simply change burners or is it much more involved than that?

I've been told you just change the fuel/air mix.

Will soon find out, have filled a big tank with kero and set it up for our mobile drier this harvest. We were always gasoil before, but kero was so cheap a few weeks ago, decided to buy some.

This is mine, the bin is 15t feeding a 12t drier, can't remember the make but it's foreign and imported by Danagri, same bins that Master sell I think, I made the lifting frame out of box steel. Fairly simple really, usually use the bin but tip beans straight out of the trailer as wet floor storage is usually lacking at the end of harvest, drier tips dry grain in to a bay in the shed I've partitioned off with 2.5m Y shape panels (from unbrako) can hold a days worth of drying so 1 less job for trailer men to worry about

That’s very smart and exactly how to do it.
Thanks, but I would be interested to know what others do to keep the weather out as wet days can be a bit problematic .
Are people using Weathershield type curtains or roller shutters to keep weather/birds etc out?
I would certainly advise anyone drying inside to have good airflow and rust resistant framework on the building.
Ours is a bit OTT heightwise but would make a good conversion to mezzanine floor up/down units one day if farming goes out of favour.

Change nozzles and pressures, that's all I think. Is the price difference still worth swapping from gas oil to kero?

Place I went to when I left school had a big outdoor wet pad, a 22t homemade bin feeding a 10t opico drier which was also outside.

drier emptied into an indoor 3t bin with sensor activated auger feeding the bucket elevator To the storage bins.

the 22t hopper was handy as last thing at night, it could be filled and that would be 3 batches for the drier to work with thru the night.

If LPG to diesel/kero is the question, I looked into it over the winter for my aged GT. Different burner, controls, fuel pump and a reputation for tainting the grain. John Thorburn thought I was slightly mad considering it. Joined a buying group instead in an effort to make gas more sensible (both main suppliers were quoting >60p last year for relatively low usage).

Did the buying group work out better on prices?
