Thank you for replying. We haven't got the small print concluded yet so just wanted to check with the expertsyes it should be , good money too ,if you can get it....also would be better on a separate piece of ground nearby i should think to be more straight forward.
Well that's unless it was included in the original lease i suppose, best read the small print if you're not aware.
Thanks for the advice, just wanted to check we're not missing anything, our agent is on the case! I am under the impression that the high rents for batteries are for when electricity is exported from the grid when the power is not required and re-sold at peak times, and not when they are storing it from your own panels to sell when the grid requires it?Sorry , I am not an expert on batteries, I would think very much depends on agreement. You obviously used an agent to advise on such things and if he was good he should have been quite specific in what they can and cant do. Sadly some farmers though do just sign on the bottom line if the cash looks big enough.
Since there is a sgnificant fire risk etc. i would hope the lease will cover such a thing. I personally would not have them near me In any quantity.
They will be doing a number of things,. Firstly they will be storing solar energy from midday , when it is not needed and releasing it into the grid in the early evening when prices rise dramatically. Locally the distributor may be charging up to 2.5p to take the power away on a summer's lunchtime, then in the early evening will be paying a premium of 8.5p.Thanks for the advice, just wanted to check we're not missing anything, our agent is on the case! We are in discussions regarding a battery storage site, with a solar farm to be added at a later date, how far into your discussions are you ?Can any solar farm landlords advise me on whether it is possible to get additional payments for battery storage on the site please or are they part of the acreage rent?
A bit like Dinorwic Power station in Wales where they pump the water to the dam in the hills at night and let it power the turbines in the day !!??They will be doing a number of things,. The batteries will then be recharged overnight in the early hours to release again in the period 7-9 when again demand is high
We are just at the pre-planning stage so in the early stages! DNO is next so fingers crossed! We are in discussions regarding a battery storage site, with a solar farm to be added at a later date, how far into your discussions are you ?
Hydro is great and looks so simple, there's one thing we're not short of around here and that's water!A bit like Dinorwic Power station in Wales where they pump the water to the dam in the hills at night and let it power the turbines in the day !!??
Thanks for the advice 'Doing it for the kids', decommissioning is soooooo important as, like you, I don't want to leave a massive headache behind for my kids! Excuse my ignorand but what is EV?Batteries are good if you can get them but it’s hard, grants aren’t about like they were. Some sites are being built out but plenty have planning and moth balled. Pivot power for example are land banking a lot of sites, I suspect they are waiting to help out with the EV’s brewing headache
ideally get planning for them when you go in for solar, even if you don’t plan to use them.
often import can be restricted, if you have existing PV you may not necessarily have import as well. in the ideal world you have both so you can play the market better.
if you need a good agent I have one. You Need good Clauses for decommissioning in the HOT, the liability on these issues v different to Pv!
