I might suggest you don't hire it out if you have your own work for it. All the hire boys around here gave up on batwing hire for the way people treated them. At very least, ensure it always returns to your yard between hire and keep a very clear inventory of condition which is signed for by the hirer. One pto shaft is best part of 5 days hire gone, then add in blades, transmissions, skids, deck, washing, greasing and your £200 day soon comes to a debt. Just be very careful on how you do it.

You’re a braver man than me, I’d have to go with it, whenever anything goes off farm in the past it’s generally come back damaged. Very selective who gets anything nowadays 😬
And the blighters that borrow are probably better able to afford the machine, than the person they flea off.

I’d echo all of the above.when I’ve hired stuff in the past from dealers the pto shaft guards are literally destroyed when picking up and befor use.set of blades on a spearhead is huge too running around £90 a blade and with 18 on a 460/480 thats a lot of money.

Have blades gone up that much? The last ones I bought for my batwing were about £30 a piece from Spaldings (other suppliers are available).
It would take some kind of an animal to break one ime.
