So not content with blaming the impending end of the world due to climate change upon us, apparently we are now the source of the far right extremism in the UK.

Countryfile, don’t you just love it. Unbelievable.
Saturdays football focus was the lowest for me, footballers vegan diets and comments about animal welfare on football focus ffs. Not been the same since saint and greavsie packed it up!

I'm not sure it's that way round, somehow. I think it meant that, much like "county line" drug smuggling and dealing, the right wingers are preying on the naive, vulnerable and the isolated in rural areas to spread their vileness.

When you are basically left defenceless against criminals who seem to have more rights than you do, then some will turn to the far right.
When mainstream politicians and media sneer at your way of making a living and treat you as persona non grata, and as a sort of anachronistic embarrassment that needs to be gradually legislated away, then some will turn to the far right.
When christian values no longer count for anything and freedoms and rights take precedence over morals and duty, then some will turn to the far right.

When there is nobody else to turn to, people turn to the far right.

(I hasten to add that I haven't turned to the far right but see it in a lot of people I meet on a daily basis, especially the old and young. They feel thoroughly disenchanted, disenfranchised and badly let down by mainstream politicians and media, so they are ripe for recruitment by the far right).

Nobody learns from history that this kind of thing rarely ends well.

Mainstream politicians need to reconnect and have some empathy for rural voters before they find themselves displaced by more extremist politicians.

Yes , that s exactly the way i saw it.

There are already scumbags moved into rural areas who'd feed on the Stuff that's spewed as well, because they've been weaned on it.

We need more good police in rural areas, and more healthy communications within parish communities, but mustn't lose sight that most people are decent citizens. It's very much the few that aren't.

Certainly I'm no expert on these kind of things, but I'd imagine that the most fertile grounds for recruitment for far right causes, would be found in urban areas.

Recruitment out in the unpopulated, deserted sticks is gonna be slooooooooooowwwwww...........
