Excellent piece in today’s Sunday Times by Rob Liddle on BBC bias. We see it all the time on Countryfile, the promotion of veganism the list just goes on.
The serious question is how do we challenge it and moderate it.

Just read the article. It is very good ,makes you wonder how much this drip feed of bias does effect people and at the same time makes me realize that despite this the plenty can see past the bias and develop their own independent view.

Rod Liddle couldn't be trusted to be unbiassed further than you could throw him. Not that this is his remit. His job is to create sensationalist commentary that draw a crowd and he prints whatever he thinks will be controversial and get people nodding at some hitherto undiscovered 'truth'. I wouldn't trust his words any more than those of Boris Johnson's.
A nasty piece of work in my opinion, so be careful who you get into bed with.

I actually know Rod and you are not far from the truth.

Hmm I dont know anything about Mr Liddle or Doctor who, The BBC who do some great content on some things are terrible at others .
BBC news lost its way years ago, you would assume it would be unbiased but its so far from it SKY has much better balanced content.

Radio two Re programming the drive time mayo and wylie fiasco , what a bodge that was ? predictably the replacements breakfast and drive time shows are to be hosted by women , nothing wrong with that I'm looking forward to sarah cox , but trying to force the situation as they did with wylie to tick a box was agenda driven not presenter driven.
If I were where a one armed gay Seikh who could tell a poor joke , the BBC would have me in a job not just on a poor comedy programme but also on countryfile and filling in on the radio as DJ on bank holiday weekends, and even presenting children's TV it is that predictable. Talent and skill has nothing to do with it.

The BBC really should only be unbiassed when it comes to reporting the news. It has credibility that way.

Magazine programmes can be and are as biassed as the creator wishes it to be, reflecting their own bias, whatever the subject.

When it comes down to it though, you can be sure that the State Apparatus works behind the scenes when it comes to large controversial foreign and policy news. They must be more subtle than magazine programs, for fear of BBC News losing its veneer of credibility. I mean, which would you trust, BBC News or Fox News or RT or AlJazeera?

Ah, seeing beyond the bias needs a bit of lateral thinking, something I think the populous don’t bother doing. Just listen and read the news and believe it all. I must say Question time has been lively lately. Where are our great statesmen when we most need them? I don’t see any in Parliament these days unless I’m not paying attention! Lord Carrington was a great Foreign Secretary but was in the wrong office at the time of the Falklands conflict and disappeared soon after.

Quite how there'll justify the licence fee in future is a mystery..........

I've said it on here before, but one of the most important lessons I learnt in school was in a History class. Simple task, we were given half a dozen differing accounts of an important historical event and had to decide what was a true reflection. In order to do that, it was necessary to work out what each source's angle was, and why they may wish to put a completely different spin on things.
The lesson was a simple one - everyone has a bias or vested interest. And before you can be sure of the veracity of what they say, you need to know what that bias is.

And that includes You and Me.

Agreed, stupid decision to let go the lads! Hasn’t been the same since

Dr Who ruined by political correctness twaddle.

Actually I think Jodie does a good job, but what with Zoe and Sara taking over 2 key Radio 2 slots and Fiona the Question Time gig, it looks like more PC moves

News ruined by some twit with a placard in the background.

Outdoor Live broadcast dangers!

Yup, it’s becoming an expense that is tougher to justify. That said, they make some good natural history and drama series

I don't want the BBC or their carp and wish they would encrypt their channels and web services so I can cancel my licence fee and never expose myself to the carp again. The bias on it is off the scale. You may as well watch RT: at least their propaganda is free.
Correct,I agree with your comments. I our household Russian is our second language, spoken, read & written, and yes I sometimes watch RT to get a balanced view as against the biased beeb.
