Just came back in from the lambing shed to see the BBC food show doing an article on Forest Green Rovers,a football league side, who are all Vegan inside the ground. The eco warrior owner was interviewed and said "We all know that meat is bad for you long term".Then the chef mentioned sports stars,ie Hamilton, and said how a Vegan diet improves athletes performance.
Words fail me !

The FGR owner is just a guy who insists on imposing his opinion on others. Just because you have a bit of money, it doesn't make you an authority on everything.

Plymouth Argyle are sponsored by a well known maker of pasties and are currently 5 places above FGR in the second division. You can draw your own conclusions.
A well known maker of what they call pasties I think would be the correct term , please do not judge our national dish on them!!
I would say Plymouth Argyle s sponsor Luckily doesn't force there produce on the players :D

I stopped off somewhere nice rather than at a motorway service station one pasty o'clock, and had a look at the vegan pastiche version out of curiosity.

Staff checked calories in it for me ~~~ well over 1,000!

I reckon anybody could thrive on a vegan diet if they had the resources that Hamilton has. Everything he eats will be monitored in the racing season, and quite possibly what comes out the back end! he'll be given all the supplements he needs, possibly a few that aren't on commercial sale for the rarer trace elements, anybody else will be eating whatever they think and the ones that eat the meat substitutes are probably on the worst diet of anybody.

I supported FGR for nearly 20 years and did a lot of voluntary work for them. Then Dale Vince came in splashing the cash, paying disproportionate wages to attract players to get them out of the Conference and effectively telling us volunteers weren't needed any more. Lost interest soon after that, and certainly stopped buying food at the ground!
They have also called in former players who were now vegan to address the crowd at halftime on its virtues etc. Vince's stated aim is to 'get their principles into the Championship'.
There have been loads of films on local news of players and coaching staff saying how much better they feel on a vegan diet, but you can bet as soon as they have left the ground it's straight to KFC etc.

Also, if you see Mr Vince himself, he does indeed look dreadful, not a good advert for veganism.

He does look like he needs a good bit of steak for a few months.
