The same as tupping lambs
Thanks just come back from Builth Tup Sale. Saw the sale of Charolais tups in. Less sheep in that section and a fair trade, think the lesser sheep of other years wernt forward but some good runs of sheep with regular buyers probably helps. Happy with my purchases coming in av 700 pound about the same as last year.
If we can buy the ewes at a lamb and a half finished and ten lambs finished for a tup we have got a chance which is somewhere near to where trade is this year

]@Smith31 I think said anyone with business sense awaits decision before buying extra or any replacements with brexit uncertainty, like other businesses, foolish not to, probably right as I went the other way and bought more despite the best of plans to reduce my workload!! Id simply argue if you had a winter of lambs averaging 110, early springers 120 and a summer starting at 110 and only dropping to 85, breeders will be dear, only one way for it to go generally, maybe a gamble but why only buy when costs are at a peak, this year income has been generally very high, ok winter costs for some/ many high, but costs on expansion of breeding flock will never be as cheap, if lamb price does crash margins wont be a lot different as opposed to a dear summer of buying sky high priced breeders, and an average price of lambs the following year.
Good luck with them and I hope you and all the other store lamb buyers make a good profit. Like I said previously, I think a Brexit deal will be done, all this faffing about is to make the politicians look good when the deal is done.

Every business is different, for us and I am sure for many others who employ outside labour, the return on store lambs is too low to take a risk, until after Brexit.

Happy with the good grades my tups produce and weights circa 20kg dead healthy bonus payment--- lambs coming to 80s clear if they were coming to less i would not have been buying such a good sheep perhaps. Its all pro rata isnt it and the tup rearers are rewarded accordingly for their investment.

It seems so,but we dont know the breed, unless someone was there. There might be alot of South Cheviots,Mules,or Blackies getting speaned.Any thats fat getting put straight into the mart.
It’s that time of year where it’s either sell feed or run on, feeds not cheap so you’ve probably answered it yourself
