Go sedge today? Has it effective store price much?

Yep store lambs were back today but still a strong trade all things considered.

Cull ewes were a shocker of a trade thou, even smart/strong ewes were only making £50/55 quid.

Strongest trade was orphan lambs with plenty £25+ and a top of £36 for a month old Dorset Ewe lamb, like for like they would be £12/18 head dearer than Exeter yesterday.

Honiton is about £5 ahead of deadweight now that deadweight quotes have dropped back to £4.05/10pk a kilo.

From what I could gather today talking to several people that most have cancelled the lambs they had booked in for deadweight for next week because they are disgusted that the price has dropped so much when liveweight has gone up in the past week.

And now the plants are apparently ringing around out of desperation trying to get lambs because they are now short of lambs for next week!
Would be a good idea if all deadweight sellers cancelled for a few weeks, and took a few in to live markets, and let the deadweight buyers turn up and bid at them competitively. It might be very interesting.Sell live and thrive.......

Didnt see any sold as i was waiting for my hoggs to go through. From the report they seemed to be a decent trade. From the catalogue, there seemed to be a big range of ages for the cows, some were still kept in tie stalls. They would be quiet,i think, almost like pet cows.
I did see most of them though but missed the first few. The incalf cows looked dearer than the cows and calves. I thought they were a good trade

Down a fiver...except the smaller ones which in my eyes were a stand on trade...something that needs sorting and soon...saw 5/6 pens of sheep in different sections of the market with active scab, that means at 20/30 pens go away with a free gift
They shouldn’t be allowed to sell them if they have scab....absolutely disgraceful

Every time I buy stores from Sedgemoor they ever come back with lice or scab, I try to be vigilant but sometimes it’s a month or so before any symptoms show up. I dip all store lambs now.

Did you bring it to the auctioneers attention that you saw sheep with active scab?
