Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

just need HM gov to get finger out on teeth issue , will take some pressure off trade .A lot of february lambers down here
Everything takes absolutely ages that they are on with. Teeth job was agreed ages ago but as usual nothing is happening. The difference in price is no where near as bad as it used to be at least

NSA Scotland statement claiming there will be a 40% reduction in sheep values and its as bad as a “self imposed foot and mouth chrisis” is not helpful and quite stupid. Whatever the outcome any scaremongering before the event is ridiculous especially when it’s coming from within the industry
still more panicked into selling now wont be coming out in a few weeks time , and will help suck lamb prices .just going to need bigger cahonies

But that’s a very real possibility if we get a ‘no deal’, and trying to talk it up isn’t going to change that.
More important that our government has the effects of their stupidity rammed fully home to them imho.

These people cause a problem that has not occurred yet. This NSA person should be in discussions with us as sheep producers/keepers and the government/Defra. They are our voice nothing else. This talking the job down does not represent my voice. Does it represent yours?

I seem to remember Jan/Feb were always poor months for selling, trade only lifted for Easter onwards. Surprise this year is just how good January trade was.(y) Dry winter means pressure to get crops in now so more forced sellers and lambs have done really well this winter so heavier. Another perfect storm the other way

You could argue they are representing us by highlighting the dangers of a no deal and therefore putting pressure on the govt to take action.

Maybe they are being deliberately harsh to try and get the message into the stupid politicians heads.
If you say it’ll all be ok, don’t worry , then they won’t bother looking at any contingency plans.

I was told months ago, and have said it on here before, stores will be 30£ in August for lambs worth 60£ in 2018, yes foot and mouth prices, at Stirling on Monday brexit is on everyone's minds, if it's no deal everyone says the sheep game is total f***ed. However folk were still biding good hoggs to 70+£, one guy sold some r ubbishy texels for 73, and joked that would be the dearest sheep he would ever sale again. The way it's going he may be telling the truth.

Most farmers are optimists, you`ve got to keep going in this business..pull out and you`ll miss the boat.

When will the price drop back to 60£?

I can certainly see the potential for a 'no deal' scenario playing out like that, yes, but hoping beyond hope that it doesn't come to that.

Walking in to it with rose tinted glasses on does nobody any favours.

As we approach the crunch date the last thing any of us needs are these people yapping on about the consequences of a no deal. There is a lack of confidence building and this approach is adding to it. This threat to trade hasn’t just happened it was there the day after the vote.
