Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Ewes a decent trade in Rugby today. However interestingly a year ago last week we averaged £136.

I was at St Boswell's to sell ewes today and watched most of the Hoggs sold. Most in-spec sheep in the £1.90-£2 bracket, took a good Hogg to make more than that. Bigger hoggs mainly £1.70s.

Ewes were a good trade, weren't many in. My Easycares were mid £60s (one corker at £35). Mule £70s, most Texel types £80s. Dearest sheep sold (for what it was) was a extreme Beltex ewe for £123.

Interestingly, Radio France were there and recorded an interview with Scott Donaldson and a couple of farmers.

Boswells was 9p back on the week for significantly fewer hoggs. I just wondered if Brexit jitters were starting to have an effect. I was glad to get my ewes sold before the wheels come off. 5-1 for no deal, anyone?

I think we will know more on that tomorrow or Wens as I expect given what Bercow has done today that the Government will announce they are applying for a long extension to article 50.

The big hoggs normally go into the catering trade so the B word shouldn't be affecting them!

Yet there is concerns about exporting in the event of a No deal B in a few days time but lighter hoggs/ suck lambs are getting dearer by the day.

No sense at all to it.
When heavy hoggs are potentially more money sold as cull ewes they are pulling pants down no question, even to the point of adding more cost to themselves inadvertently.
Stupidity which will end up costing them in the near future
