Was speaking to a neighbour last week, who came back from a mart with nothing, he said they were too dear and he wasn't willing to fatten cattle for nothing to make the abattoirs richer.

He made me laugh when he said he was lucky as he had not caught the empty shed virus. Many farmers can not bear to have sheds empty and will still fatten cattle when they know full well there's no money in the job.
And then expect the UK taxpayer to prop up their business. You couldn’t make it up

Feed still relatively cheap compared to other years and plenty about.
Unless we need the space the rest of ours will go through the ring a bit bigger for rest of season.
Unfortunately I think we will run out of space though
