There isn’t a store cattle buyer alive that hasn’t bought some that didn’t turn the wheel. It’s just part of the job
Its good when they do turn the wheel though.I had two dairy bred Angus at Carlisle last wednesday made £885. They had been on farm for just over a year, and i paid £340 for them from Carlisle as well. Lovely and quiet to handle, they had mostly eaten just grass and forage, with very little cake.My kind of cattle.I wish i could do couple of hundred like them every year.

I very rarely come home from market with an empty trailer . At least then I have a chance of making something . With an empty trailer I have no chance of making anything !! .....of course some would say 'well at least you won't lose anything ' , however I'm always the optimist and will have a go !
And you wont waste diesel or your time either.

That's as good as you can do fattening cattle,i like to think my cattle all leave me £10 for every week they are on farm, but they don't all and the they eat a fair bit of barley.

Me too! I’ve never got into buying them in any decent scale I always just end up with heifers or cows as breeders
