Just had message off market, they are open tomorrow, got to stay in vehicle and let staff unload.. then go home. Don't think I'll risk taking my cull ewes there just to have them begged.
We will be pulling 100 hoggs off the market as not prepared to be robbed. Its also a matter of principal to stand against the oppotunists. May not pay the bills. Can see a major change in "fat auction system after this "

Well guys we are stuffed I have over 1500 hogs on the hoppers ...ok some wont be fit for a bit....no grass and keeping the buggers in this time of year can be a pain....where are we going to go,sleepless night to say the least, after careful consideration going to carry on feeding that way at least I will have something to sell at whatever price I can get,but what a mess we are all in now, from riches to rags comes to mind....why do farmers bother we just must be mad
Ive got about 1200 here to go to be honest I'm not worried yet give this 10 days and it'll be better the most important thing we can do is not panic sell, its a long time until june and you've got easter and a festival in that time.

Because a lot of people still need to be at work.

Government made a lot of fan fare last week about them giving businesses loans/ paying wages etc but no one has been told how to access that money/ if they will get it and when they will get it.

For self employed people they are talking about going back thru your last 3 years tax returns and then giving you a % of what you have drawn out, fine on paper, trouble is there is millions of self employed people, will take them months and months to do that, the help will be too little far too late.

At least Trump had the right idea ( and im no fan of his ) but he is giving people a flat rate payment a month or week directly.

Back to topic, I cannot see how markets can operate be that store or prime if they are going to restrict it to buyers only.

This lockdown is going to go on for months, it wont be just 3 weeks as most people seem to believe.

A delay this time of year when the hoggs really take off
adds tonnes of meat to the system.
I hope some sensible prices can be found in the short term
or farmers will be hit hard by too many over weights.
