There was 54 calves there on Wednesday as I was there. Dealers will stop coming down before long unless things alter. One boy came from Gloucester way and went back with four.

That guy certainly didn't help the cause but should he have the blame entirely? He came from a sheep dominated area into a dairy dominated county, who hired him?
I think locals didn't like him cos he did not speak welsh

I was in Carmarthen 12-18m ago (called in when passing for breakfast and a look) no idea what the auctioneer was doing but trying to start every cull at £1000 then drop all the way to £500 to come back up to £750-800 on 50+ cows was painful to watch, it just took so long.
Welsh like the auctioneer to play the old quietly on the market we would like a touch more tune, not hammer down, sold and gone either

it was just what my tack man said to me as he is their most weeks
I'm there every week but I haven't heard that one, still not impossible.

The reason they gave when he packed his bags was that he was homesick. Personally I don't think thaley gave him a chance. He only did a few barren cow sales an a couple store sales.

@JP1 could you move these posts onto as thread for Carmarthen mart as this is a price tracker thread please.

Having spent nearly three hours of my life on the forage thread and dealing with a load of rubbish over there what I'd prefer is folks on here kindly keeping on topic and someone starting a Carmarthen Market thread themselves please

I would be lieing if I said that thought didn't cross my mind a few times today, but although I was buying today (well trying to) I am store producer and my cattle don't live off crow shite and rain water. (sounds better in Welsh)

People must make their calculations ? or the prices won't be where they are now.
